Emma Lee Holman was born January 27, 1938 to the late Ida Mae Garrison and the late Robert Williams in Little Rock, Arkansas where she was the eldest of eight siblings. Mother Holman confessed her hope in Christ at an early age, and never lost her thirst to know Him in a greater way. She attended the Scipio A. Jones School in North Little Rock, Arkansas. After having to dropout of school for economic reasons and to assist in caring for her siblings, she later received her GED. Having discovered love and a desire to start a family, Emma Williams and Odel Holman entered into holy matrimony.
Mother Holman later started her career at the Veterans Hospital at Fort Root in North Little Rock, Arkansas as a dietician. She worked there thirty plus years until she retired. Mother Holman was a member at Zion Grove Worship Center of North Little Rock, Arkansas where she served as an Elder. She loved cooking and canning the things that she grew in her own yard. She had a zest for plants and a green thumb for growing a garden. There was no limit to the countless persons she fed at her table. The community called her Mama Emma, as she was a mother to many, and a counselor to all. Her wisdom and wit was unmatched!
Mother holman was preceded in death by her parents Ida Mae and Robert Williams, brothers: Jimmy Garrison Jr., Lonnzo Garrison, Ronald Smith, sons: Odel Holman Jr., Terry D. Holman, daughter: Linda K. Holman. She leaves to cherish her memories, brother: Willie Evan Sr., sisters: Jewel Dean, Mary Brown, Ann Garrison, (Dolly) Pete, daughter: Veronica F. Hicks, sons: Terrance R. Holman (Jerri), Clarence L. Holman (Prutty), Kelvin L. Peten (Sonya), and a host of nieces, nephews, grandkids, family, and friends.
