Elvera Atkins, 83, entered eternal rest on March 18, 2021 in China, Texas. She was born October 18, 1937 in Welcome, Texas. Elvera worked as an elevator operator and she worked in the bank industry. Later, she worked at McDonough Marine Services for 24 years. She was a part of the international social organization, Red Hat Society, attended Trinity Lutheran Church, and served on the Pasadena City Council. Elvera enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, crafting, and tatting. Above all, she loved her family with all her heart.
She is preceded in death by her father, Edward W. Borchgardt, mother, Lydia Giesler, sister, Jeanelle Knebel, Walter Schade, Don Bales, and Trudel Atkins. Left to cherish her loving memory, sons: Roger Schade and Bruce Bales; grandchildren: Christopher Schade, Alyx Bales, Jacob Bales; sisters: Betty Hafner and Mae Dell Carpenter, Marilyn Wilke, Flora Dell Fischer; brothers: Daniel Borchgardt, Jimmy Borchgardt, and Leonard Borchgardt.
Visitation for family and friends will begin on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10:30am with the funeral service to begin promptly at 1:30pm. All services will take place at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway Houston, Texas 77039. Interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Park immediately after the funeral service.
