Elouise Brown Mayson, a cherished pillar of her community and a beacon of service and passion, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on February 28, 1929, in Brewton, Alabama, Elouise’s life was a testament to her enduring spirit and commitment to enriching the lives around her.
In a loving union with Felix Bernard Mayson III in Mobile, Alabama, Elouise found joy and purpose. The couple’s journey led them to Houston around 1955, where Elouise’s influence blossomed. As President of the Spring Branch Garden Club and an active member of the Houston Garden Club Council, she cultivated beauty and growth not only in gardens but in the hearts of those she met.
Elouise’s dedication to her community was further evident through her active participation in the Campbell Woods Civic Club and her role in the Super Neighborhood. Her passion for education shone brightly as she tutored elementary school students in English and Reading, nurturing young minds with patience and wisdom.
A lover of Bridge, Elouise’s strategic mind and warm camaraderie were felt at every game table.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, her Son Felix B. Mayson IV, her son in law William Cure, and Numerous Brothers and Sisters. Her legacy of love, service, and community engagement endures through her daughter, Cathy Cure; granddaughter, Tabitha Obets with her Husband Matthew Obets; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Nunnery; and nephews, Danny Joyner with his wife Rebecca, and Eddie Joyner.
