Elnora Crump Pryer, affectionately known as Ella, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood, Texas. She was surrounded by her family with an outpouring of love.
Ella was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Alton David Crump, Sr. and Mildred Bowen Crump on October 9, 1942.
Ella was baptized at an early age at St. Peter United Methodist Church. She was a native of Maringouin, Louisiana, and a resident of Houston, Texas. Ella was a faithful member of the New Beginning Hour of Power Prayer Ministry.
Ella was married to the late Samuel Pryer, Sr. for 54 years, and they were devoted parents of four children who were deeply cherished in their hearts.
Ella graduated from Thomas A. Levy High School in Rosedale, Louisiana. After attending nursing school, and working in a few nursing facilities, she decided to become a full-time stay-at-home mom and wife. Those who knew her well could attest to the fact that she was one of the best cooks in the family. Her pride and joy were in her children and grandchildren. Ella had a passion for reading and solving crossword puzzles in her leisure time. Shopping, especially on days when seniors are given discounts, was another thing she loved as well.
Ella leaves a village of loved ones to cherish her memories. Her loving and devoted 4 children – Allison (Troy) Welch of Porter, TX, Samuel Jr., Angie, Tanya (Jerald) Taplin of Houston. Her grandchildren Myeshia Jones, Candice Pryer, Arius Pryer, Alexis (Willis) Fountain, Christina (Jarvis) Young, and Broderick Edmonson, thirteen great grandchildren, two sisters, Vera Pelichet and Reverend Dr. Lenora Crump Owens (twin sister). Four brothers, Russell (Yolanda), Matthew Sr., Leonce Sr., (Janice) and Bruce Crump. Three aunts, Doris Steele, Juanita Dupree, and Ruby Jones. Sisters-in-law Odelia Lewis, Doretha Myers, Annie Mae Grizzel (Willie), and Betty Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Pryer, Sr., parents, Alton and Mildred Crump, sisters, Dorothy Mae Crump and Anna Mae Pryer, brothers, Alton Crump, Jr., Floyd Crump Sr., and Gerald Crump. Sisters-in-law, Gloria Crump, Lillie B. Pryer, Eula Pryer, Alneater Pryer (Netta) and Lillie C. Pryer. Brothers-in-law, Wilson Pryer, Sr., Lester Pryer, Sr., Wilbert Pryer, Sr., Raymon Pryer, Sr., and Al Myers; and her godmother, Ann B. Merkerson.
The family of Elnora Pryer would like to express their gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the service so special for our mother. We want to thank all our family and friends for their comforting words, phone calls, heartfelt cards, and visits during our loved one's homegoing. Your kindness will be cherished and greatly appreciated. May God continue to bless you all.
