Elnora B. Brown, born to Rev. James Arthur & Burnett Brown on August 15, 1954 in Houston, Texas. Elnora (A.K.A. Tiny) was educated at Wesley Elementary and graduated from M.C. Williams High School in 1972.
On Sunday, April 19, 1970, she gave birth to her first heartbeat, Calvin “Skeeta” Wayne Wilson (C.W. Wilson, Jr.). When you think of Tiny at Skeeta’s ball games, you can still hear her saying “That’s My Boy!”
On Thursday, “Thanksgiving Day”, November 23, 1972, she gave birth to her second heartbeat, Nitra Hammonds (Ricardo Hammonds). Nitra was not only her daughter, but some even called her Tiny’s best friend. The bond between these two was evident in each and everything they did for each other.
On Friday, August 8, 1997, her third heartbeat, Allen A. Ramos (which trumped the first two heartbeats) “smile” was born. Allen is the light when there is no light. Tiny made sure to be at each and every function and ball game he ever had. She was the grandmother most kids wished and prayed they had.
Tiny was so proud of both of her children and her grandson—they were her light when the light was dim. They were her strength when she didn’t have strength. They were the reason she sacrificed everything—and gave her life completely over to God.
If you know Tiny B’s story, then you know she would say, “If I can help just one somebody …” Her testimony didn’t begin with the first brain aneurysm in 2003. Her testimony began many, many years prior. She would always say, “I went through what I went through so you wouldn’t have to go through” and “If you didn’t learn your lesson the first time, you will repeat it”. Strong words from a strong woman!
Tiny left her legacy for her son Calvin Wilson (Tinette & Alexis Potts-Wilson); daughter Nitra Hammonds; grandson Allen Ramos; great-granddaughter Aniyah Elise; siblings Maggie Thomas; James Arthur Brown, Jr (Earline); Lewis Brown (Mary); Cora Wiltshire (Ray); Bernice Williams (Dennis); Dell Murray; Aaron Brown (Carla) and a host of family and friends that loved her with all of their hearts!
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”
