Elma Moya Rodriguez, 77, of Cypress, Texas passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. She was born on May 25, 1939 in San Diego, Texas; an only child to her late parents Elia Moya Rodriguez and Carlos Rodriguez. She had many cousins, other relatives, and friends who were like her brothers and sisters. Her memory will be cherished by all who loved her, especially by her 5 children who she described as her greatest accomplishment; Gilma Elia De Leon, Manuel Dan De Leon, Hilda Aurora De Leon, Frank De Leon, & Krista Ann Loera. In addition to her children, others who will always remember her beautiful spirit and smile are her spouse, Hugo Morales; her son-in-law, Albert Loera, Jr., her granddaughter, Lauren Alexandra Huber and grandson in-law Tim Huber, her grandsons Francisco Carlos (Frisco) De Leon, David Hernandez, step-grandson Kodie Albert Loera, his wife Jessica Loera and their son Landon Kole; her granddaughters Mia Rosa Connell, Marisa Grace Loera, and Mallory Elia Loera. She was excitedly a “great-grandmother” and had weekly face-time “fun” with her great- grandson, Clark Jeffrey Huber of North Carolina.
Her family and friends will always remember her as a devoted daughter, mother, friend, and lover of pets. She loved and leaves her fur babies; Sissy & Barbie, 3 rescues Regis, Nugget, and Princess. Her passions were her family and her pets. She was a 30-year retiree of Ft. Bend Independent School District where she worked as a teacher’s aide and as a purchasing clerk.
She described her greatest life adventure as being the first time she not only boarded a plane, but at the same time, traveled halfway across the world to Malaysia in Southeast Asia. There she greeted her first newborn baby granddaughter, Lauren Alexandra in 1988. While in Malaysia, she also saw most of the country, traveling with new-found friends and neighbors. Elma never met a stranger, a friend of many, she will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Memorial Services and celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek. A private graveside inurnment will be held at a later date.
