Elma Rose was born in Matamoros, Tmps, MX on July 14, 1963, to Alfonso Muñiz and Rafaela Gonzalez. The oldest of six; Mario O. Muñiz, Blanca E. Muñiz, Myrna Muñiz, Sandra Muñiz and Alfonso Muñiz Jr. She was known for her selfless, caring, nurturing personality. She was always up for a gambling game. During the weekends her favorite thing to do was play loteria with her family and friends. Growing up she loved to do cosmetology, playing volleyball and caring for her siblings.
Rose graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and she accomplished her Associates Degree in Business at The University of Houston. She enjoyed her career of 36 wonderful years, with Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau now known as Houston First as a Destination Services Housing Manager.
In 1986, Elma Rose married her best friend and love of her life, Arvelio Moreno. They had three incredible children; Arvelio Moreno, Jr., Ashley Moreno and Aaron Moreno. They spent their time together going to Astroworld, having family picnics, going to Mexico visiting family and traveling to other states. In 2015 God blessed them with their first grandchild, Leonardo Isiah. Rose was “Mimaw” to Leo and she made sure to never miss a T-ball game. He was the center of her attention and the one person to bring her joy during her bad days. She was never tired to play with him, in his eyes “Mimaw” was everything to him.
Elma Rose Moreno died peacefully on February 3, 2020, surrounded by her family, following a valiant battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Arvelio Moreno, her children; Arvelio Moreno, Jr., Ashley Moreno and Aaron Moreno, grand child Leonardo Barajas, her son in law Bernardo Barajas, her beloved sisters and brother; Blanca Muñiz, Myrna Muñiz, Sandra Muñiz, Alfonzo Muñiz Jr. Rose will be missed dearly but will be remembered with lots of love and beautiful memories.
