Elliott Riley Allen Jr., age 78, of New Caney, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Elliott was born December 1, 1943 in Houston, Tx. He was raised in Houston to Elliott R. Allen, Sr. and Lille Mae Grabow. He was the only boy of five children. His sisters grew up calling him “Little Brother”. Once he became interested in girls, he told his family to find another name for him, so that’s when everyone started calling him “Bubba”!! He grew up playing baseball and football. Elliott joined the US Army in 1963 and became a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. He loved jumping out of those airplanes. The Army became his passion. He served in Korea, The Dominican Republic, and Vietnam. Elliott was injured in Vietnam, which ended his military career in 1968. He earned several medals during his service including a Bronze Star medal. Once his military career ended, he worked in the heavy equipment industry.
Elliott’s favorite hobbies were training and riding horses, trail riding, and team-penning. He became a Lifetime member of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 1993 and served on several committees until he earned his Lifetime Committeeman status in 2007. Elliott was also a lifetime member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Elliott is preceded in death by his father, Elliott R. Allen, Sr., mother, Lille Mae Grabow, and sisters, Florence Kutch, Maxine Nelson, and Ernestine Spears. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Yvette Allen of 42 years, his children, Barbara Jean Allen and Jeannie Kay Allen of Oklahoma, his son, Roger Allen of Pasadena, Tx, and his daughter, Angela Patrice Brooks (husband Mark) of Hockley, Tx. Also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Quintero (husband Dillon), grandson, Aaron Brooks (wife Jessi), great grandchildren Raegan Brooks, Kase Brooks, and Colt Quintero. Elliott was loved and adored by several nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in memory of Elliott.
Serving as pallbearers are Kurtis Mundy, Bob Katzenberger, Mark Davenport, Ronnie Anderson, Billy Thumann, Dwayne Thumann. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Clarence Spears, James Spears, Robert Spears, Herschel Finley, David Davenport.
A visitation for Elliott will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A graveside service will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 1:15 PM to 2:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038.
