She was born September 15, 1983 in Houston, Texas to Thomas H. Hold and Daria E. Torres.
Elizabeth graduated from Spring Woods High School in May 2002. She made the Dean’s List on many occasions and earned many academic honors. Elizabeth served as a part of her high school community through her active involvement in the student council, band (saxophone), and lettered in soccer. During her senior year, Elizabeth was voted Homecoming Queen.
Upon graduating from high school, Elizabeth attended the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. She graduated Sum Cum Laude from the Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston in May 2006. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a minor in Business Administration. During her senior year at the college, she served as the Co-General Manager of Par Excellence, Director of Logistics for Gourmet Night, and President of Eta Sigma Delta International Hospitality Honor Society. Furthermore, she was involved with the Hilton Ambassadors, National Society of Minorities in Hospitality, served as Vice President of the NACE Student Chapter, as well as a board member of the Student Alumni Connection. Elizabeth also volunteered at the Houston SPCA animal shelter. During her college career, she interned at The Westin Galleria and Westin Oaks in Houston, the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort and Spa, the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, and the W Hotel in New Orleans. She also interned with NACE during the Educational Conferences in Boston and San Diego and participated in several marketing and sales blitzes for various hotels. In 2009, she was honored to be featured in the "Keeper of the Flame" painting created to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Hilton College to honor those who had a significant impact on the growth of the Hilton College.
After graduating from college, Elizabeth moved to Boston to start her career in Sales and Marketing with Starwood Hotels and Resorts in their Management Training Program. In 2010, she was thrilled to return to her family and friends and continue her career with Starwood as a Sales Manager at the Westin Galleria and Oaks. Through her work, she had the joy of visiting many countries and cities (traveling was her passion).
Elizabeth was extremely passionate about giving back to her community. In 2007, Liz’s best friend, Donna Martine, passed away from colorectal cancer. As a tribute to her dear friend, Elizabeth spear headed the effort of creating “Team Donna” as part of the annual S.C.O.P.E. run and it was her goal was to grow the team each year. S.C.O.P.E raises funds for colorectal cancer prevention and research.
Elizabeth had many hobbies including baking, hiking, snowboarding, creating photo arrangements, traveling, and hosting parties. Elizabeth was very religious and helped with Sunday school classes at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Animals were another passion of hers and she donated time to the SPCA. Additionally, Elizabeth enjoyed S.C.U.B.A. diving, snorkeling and the ocean. She also enjoyed riding bicycles and was in many bike races including the MS150. Elizabeth loved to dance and took salsa lessons with her husband Louis. Her biggest hobby was her friends!
Elizabeth and Louis were married in 2011 and had a lovely home in the Houston Heights. They were both very eager to become parents and had their home prepared to welcome baby Evan. She was 37 weeks pregnant, anticipating the birth of Evan on March 13, 2013. Elizabeth brought a spark to the lives of her family and friends and will be missed tremendously by all.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Reyna; her parents, Thomas H. Hold and Daria E. Torres; her brother, Michael D. Hold and his wife, Christell; her sisters, Janna Ward and her husband Don, Deborah Teflos, and Tammy Ross and her husband Chip; her grandmother Juana Zapata; her father in law, Louis Reyna; her mother in law, Anna Reyna, her brothers-in-law, Adrian and Daniel Reyna, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday February 22, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a rosary service at 7:00 pm in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday February 23, 2013 at 12:00 pm at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive, Houston, Texas 77080. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
