Elizabeth M. Rector

Elizabeth M. Rector, aged 89, passed away on September 1, 2021 in Houston, TX. Elizabeth was born May 30, 1932, in Houston, TX and was the only child to Loyes and Marie Fischer. She graduated from Saint Agness Academy in 1951 and worked as a secretary for American General Life Insurance. She married Roger B. Rector on January 14, 1956 and the two celebrated 64 years of married life together until his death in September of 2020.

They were blessed with 4 children, and Elizabeth stayed at home to be a loving and supportive wife, mother and homemaker until their children were grown. She helped her husband for many years in his business and also went back to work part-time as a secretary for an insurance agent. She was a wonderful NiNi to 7 grandchildren who adore her.

Her other devotion was to her church; she was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church for 55 plus years. In that time she lived an exemplary life of service. She was a member of the Veterans Administration Voluntary Service Program in the 1950’s, the Junior League, the Aggie Moms’ Club, Catholic Charities Guild and was a Girl Scout Leader. At St. Cecilia Church she was an active member of the St. Cecilia Women’s Club, a Eucharistic Minister, a Homebound Eucharistic Minister, a Greeter, and part of The Gathering Place, which provided monthly parties for those suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. She volunteered for many years for Houston Hospice, visited those that were dying and supported their families. After her son passed away in 1992, she joined Interfaith Carepartners, a group that visited and provided care and friendship to individuals suffering with HIV/AIDS.

Elizabeth was well-loved and known to all for her soft-spoken voice, kindness and hospitality. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyes and Marie Fischer, her son Brian Thomas Rector and her husband, Roger B. Rector. She is survived by her son Craig Rector and daughter-in-law Lisa Rector, her son Lee Rector and daughter-in-law Dana Rector, her daughter Karen Rector Guidry and son-in-law Todd Guidry, and grandchildren Aaron Rector, Lauren Rector, Mitchell Rector, Alicia Rector, Cassie Guidry, Brennan Guidry and Andrew Guidry.
