Our Beth was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on October 18, 1974. We lost her suddenly and unexpectedly when she was found collapsed and unresponsive on the front porch of her home in the early evening of April 4, 2025.
Beth, a happy child, had fond memories of her attending first through eight grades at Our Lady's Catholic School in Sulphur, Louisiana. She attended and graduated in 1992 from Sulphur High School.
Beginning in middle school, with the Anne of Greene Gables series, she was an avid reader all of her life and treasured her collection of Readers' Digest Classics. She also loved all kinds of music, and her playlist included quite a variety of everything from Andrea Bocelli to Elton John to Bruno Mars to Gospel. She could tell you just about every song and who recorded it from the 80's and 90's. One of her favorites pastimes was going to lunch with her mom and sisters. She enjoyed her favorite places, such as Niko Niko's on Montrose, Carrabba's on Voss (had to be the one on Voss), Kenny and Ziggy's and Cleburne's Cafeteria. A mastermind of trivia, she was truly a family "historian," and could name dates of events that occurred within her immediate and extended families when no one else could remember. She loved her Louisiana heritage and cherished her aunts, uncles and cousins who now, not only live in Louisiana, but also Texas, California, Rhode Island, Indiana, New York and Florida. She treasured the many family reunions, especially the gathering she attended in September 2024 at her cousin, Pete's home. She loved her Catholic faith and loved attending mass at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, at Holy Rosary on Milam and at St. Anne's on Westheimer. Moving with her parents and siblings to Sugar Land in 1992, she was a 1995 charter member of Catholic Daughters Court St. Laurence No. 2402 and a member of the St. Laurence Parish Young Adults although her membership in these ministries was short-lived due to her moving to Houston to live on her own and begin working.
Beth worked as a check-out cashier for two major Houston supermarkets over many years and she was very good at it, as other cashiers would ask Beth for the produce codes because they knew that she would give them a quick and correct reply. She finally had to give up the cashier's job because of pain on standing, and in 2017 began a degree program in International Business earning a Bachelor's from the University of St. Thomas in 2021. She was recently diagnosed on the autism spectrum and granted disability status.
Beth is survived by her parents, John Wayne and Cynthia Landry Cummings, her sister Juliet Cummings (Ryan) Manriquez, her sister, Loren Bridget Cummings, her brother, Steven Landry (Amanda) Cummings, her uncle/godfather Brian Cummings, her uncle Donald (Kay) Cummings, her uncle Carey (Carol Jean) Landry, uncle Allen Trahan, nieces and nephews, Allison, James, Nolan, Lyla and Marcus, first cousins, Benjamin Stelly, Karl Trahan, Zachary Cummings and Logan Cummings three great aunts and one great uncle and many extended family cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Marion and Hattie Barousse Cummings, her maternal grandparents, Reule and Juliette Gallet Landry, her aunt/godmother, Aureen Landry Stelly, her aunt, Kathleen Cummings Trahan, her nephew, Steven Gabriel, her uncle infant Carl Cummings, and her cousin infant John Harold Trahan.
