Elizabeth Ann (Gorney) Bishop, age 66, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020. "Beth" was born August 28, 1954. She attended Sam Houston High School. In school, Beth was a member of the R.O.T.C. and made life-long friends. Growing up in Houston, Beth always said it would snow on her wedding day ... and it did. She married Byron Bishop on Saturday, February 17, 1973.
Beth's first career was being a mother. She gave birth to four children: Byron II, Christopher, Faith, and Nickolas. As the boys got older, Beth first went back to work in the insurance industry and later specialized in Customer Service. She worked for American General Life Insurance Company, Hewitt, and later Avon, where she worked until she retired. Beth was very creative and worked for Home Interiors. Beth was also an AVON representative and a member of their President's Club - she received many achievement awards.
Beth participated in many activities and had many hobbies. She enjoyed being involved with the Boy Scouts. She accompanied Byron and the boys on many camp-outs. She was so proud when Nickolas became an Eagle Scout. Beth also enjoyed gardening - she had a green thumb. She loved butterflies and wind chimes.
Beth loved to crochet and made special bears for all her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She spent a lot of time crocheting during her chemotherapy treatments, especially during the past year and a half, when her strength was "zapped."
Beth will always be remembered for her baking skills. She spent hours in the kitchen making special-occasion cakes for her extended family and friends. She was also a great cook. Her recipes are sought after.
Beth always thought of others, and frequently showed up with a small gift/keepsake and a kind word to make others feel better. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband, Byron; sons Byron II, Christopher and wife Robin, Nickolas and wife Ashley; Grandchildren Mary Beth, Byron III, Isabell, Genie, Logan, Albert, Travis, Shelby, and Penelope; Great Grandson Zachary; Sisters Kathy and husband Raymond Kimich; Terrie Gorney and husband Mike Brophy; and many nieces and nephews.
Beth was preceded in death by her infant daughter Faith; parents Mary and Louis Gorney; and brother Daniel Gorney.

I met Beth at Hewitt in the early 2000's when her area was combined with our area and we became a large Team. I found out what a great leader and knowledge resource she was for everyone. I learned so much from her. Then I found out there was more to her than just work, she was a wonder Mom. She guided the team at work; all the involvement with her family; Scouts; gardening and more. Then a cake showed up at work, and that did it, she was labeled to me as "Mom". Every time I saw her, I would just connect with, "Hello Mom..." and we would catch up on things. She always talked first about her family that she loves so much. My condolences to the family and her loved ones, I was blessed to call her a friend.
To all of Beth's family, Thank you for sharing Beth with all of us. She was indeed a gentle soul and always so very loving towards everyone. This past year she and I shared a very special bond and I thank her for keeping me "up" while she was going through so much more. I will forever remember my cousin with the flaming red hair. Beautiful soul she is to me still. My prayers are with your entire family. May God bless each of you. Rosalia (Gorney) Abrahams
I really can't put how awesome Beth was into words. Like so many, I worked with her at Hewitt/Aon/Alight and am thankful to have done so. She has baked for my daughter, we tried to get her a baking Facebook page going, she knew to never ask me to water her plants while she was out, and she was my Imaging hero. Most of all, she supported my own causes, wearing Gray in May and other key months before she fought her own battle. I will miss her always.
I am so glad I had the opportunity to get to know Beth. We worked together at Hewitt/Aon/Alight. I considered her as one of my best friends. If you were down she would make you smile, if you needed someone to talk to she would be more than happy to listen. Man could she bake. Beth always made sure to share her cakes, cookies or what ever she baked. I will miss My dear friend every day.
My Aunt Beth was the most loving and caring person. I rarely heard her raise her voice. I had so much fun growing up making sugar cookies together. I have great memories of her and Uncle Byron baking us breakfast with funny shaped pancakes. We also went on so many fun Boy Scout trips where we made great memories. My Aunt Beth made cakes for every birthday and special occasion that I can remember. She was so talented at baking. I miss her so much. It is crazy to think that I will never hear her voice again.
I will always remember Beth’s patience and gentle presence on our R2R2R trip. She was always willing to whatever she could to help make the trip more enjoyable and comfortable.
Beth had a sweet soul. We worked together at AON. She treated everyone with respect and everyone loved her. My deepest condolences to the family.
So sorry to hear of Beth!s passing. May God Bless you with peace during this most difficult time. May she rest in peace in the hands of God. Love to the Bishop family.
