Sealy, Texas on October 23, 1931 to Louis and Techla Orsak.
She met the love of her life, Jerome Barta at a Sunday Country Dance in Sealy, Texas. They got engaged while Jerome was in the Army. Awaiting Jerome to return from service, Elizabeth moved to Houston to work. She lived with “Auntie” in a boarding house while working for “Golden Age” bottling plant. When Jerome returned from the service they married on January 25, 1953 and have been happily married for 71 years. They had two children, a son Stephen and a daughter, Cynthia.
Jerome and Elizabeth first resided in Eagle Lake, Texas. Here, she was a member of the Alter Society for “Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church.” She volunteered to clean the church and press the priests alter garments. The Altar Society ladies often met at her home for refreshments and to socialize. They moved to Houston in 1968.
Elizabeth was a dedicated housewife taking care of Stephen and Cynthia until they were in middle school. She then worked retail, for Battelsteins, Frost Brothers and later Tootsies in the Galleria. She retired from retail work to spend the golden years with Jerome.
Elizabeth was a hardworking woman, her goal was to nurture and provide for Jerome, Stephen and Cynthia. Elizabeth’s life centered on the Catholic Church. She was dedicated to her family and faith. She had a selfless, caring spirit, where she put her faith, family and others first. Many considered her a “true friend” in which they could confide in, to which she would always provide comfort and encouragement. She recently won an award at her assisted living for being the “Sweetest Most Caring Person.”
She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Techla Orsak, Devoted Husband, Jerome Barta, Sisters, Antoinette Blazek and Vicki Cook, as well as her beloved son Stephen Barta. She is survived by her Daughter, Cynthia and Jimmy. Granddaughter, Elizabeth and Richard Cantu.
