She confessed Christ as his personal savior at the early age of 12. She was baptized at Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. She attended church with her five sisters and one brother. These were the times you wasn’t asked, “Do you want to go to church?”( In my house we will serve the Lord).
She attended Fair Park High School and graduated in 1975. Then, she went on pursue further studies at Southern University. She went to work for Southwestern Bell which we now know as AT&T from which she retired.
She met Roger Ashley and they moved to Houston, Texas. The day of September 23rd, 1977 they became one and married on this day. Later on she gave birth to a son, Roger Wayne Ashley Jr. and a daughter, Kathlyn Elizabeth Ashley.
She loved spending time playing games, cooking, sewing, reading and traveling, but her true joy was her grandkids. She had a life of many trails and tribulations which caused her to retire early but she stayed strong through it all. She continued to be a mother, wife, friend, supporter, coach, grandmother and she always kept her faith in God until her dying day.
She leaves behind: a loving husband who stood by her side through it all, Roger Ashley; her son, Roger Wayne Ashley and her daughter and son-in-law, Kathlyn Elizabeth Ashley and Joshua Green; children: Anthony Ashley, Roy McBride, Sherrie Ashley, Annette Ashley, Angela Ashley, Lashonda Ashley; her five sisters, Delores A.
