Elisa Rodriguez

On January 22, 2024 Our Lord called Elisa, age 98, home after blessing her with a life well lived. In 1945, at age 20, Elisa married the love of her life, Manuel Rodriguez, Sr. in Sinton, TX where they would raise their 3 children. Son- Manuel Jr., born in 1946, Daughter- Elida born in 1947, Daughter- Anna born in 1948.

Eventually the family moved from Sinton, TX to San Antonio, TX where each of their children would go on to start their own families.

Elisa, known to most as “Momo”, lived a full life. She was fiercely independent and enjoyed living on her own and making her own decisions including how often she would go to the casino to play the slot machines! She had a strong competitive streak and loved playing card games with family.

Another love was working in her yard! Momo loved a nice looking yard and garden. She enjoyed tending to her plants and rose bushes, just like her mother, Ma Chela.

Momo often said she didn’t feel her age, as she maintained an active lifestyle. When not outdoors or spending time with family, Momo enjoyed watching The Price is Right and working on Word Search.

As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Momo was always accessible, loving and relatable, with a great sense of humor and a fair amount of jokes to tell.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Eloisa; her husband, Manuel Rodriguez, Sr. and her son, Manuel Rodriguez, Jr.

Elisa is survived by her sister, Guadalupe Carrizales; daughter, Elida (David) Gonzales; daughter, Anna (Pantaleon/Frank) Guerra; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elisa (Momo) will be greatly missed but will always be in our hearts.

A funeral mass for Elisa will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Rd, Houston, TX 77089. Following the funeral mass will be a committal from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8601 Almeda Genoa Rd, Houston, TX 77075.
