Elida Silvas Garcia

Elida Silvas Garcia, 83, of Houston, Texas, passed away on October 1, 2022. She was born May 8, 1939 in Gonzales, TX to Felipe and Josefa Silvas. She married Bennie Garcia, Feb. 11, 1956. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and husband.

She is survived by her children: Mary Flores (Teodoro Franco), Andrew Garcia (Juanita), Elizabeth Euresti, Frances Guzman, Alex Garcia, Patricia Perez; grandchildren, Michael Flores (Elizabeth), Joseph Flores (Sarah Evans), Andrea Aguilar (Nicolas), Andrew Flores, Nicholas Garcia (Rosie), Justin Euresti, Stephanie Euresti, Megan Zavala (Tony), Gabriel Guzman, Cristina Garcia (Joe Gallegos), Jana Reyes (Marcus), Bobby Perez; great-grandchildren: Micaela and Isabella Flores, Brianna, Nicolas Jr., Adrianna and Julianna Aguilar, Ernie Rodriguez, Lillianna and Damian Hernandez, Maythany, Matias, Malieso Zavala, Sadie Ortega, one due November 2022, one due April 2023; brothers Philip Silvas (Hope), and Ramiro Silvas, sister Mary Ann Aranda (Alfred) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elida worked for K-Mart for 32 years, and Palais Royal five years. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, she was a Devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Rose of Lima. At St. Rose, she was part of the Prayer Blanket Ministry. and her husband loved dancing. She especially loved Christmas time and the holidays while spending time with her children and grandchildren. Elida loved her casino trips and visiting Basilica of Our Lady San Juan De Valle in San Juan, TX. Her other hobbies included crossword puzzles, watching games shows like Family Feud and Jeopardy. When she no longer could go to the church to attend Mass she watched EWTN. She also loved to watch the Astros games.

There will be a visitation on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 5-8pm with a Rosary to begin at 7pm at Pat H. Foley & Co. A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Her interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery at 2pm.
