Eleanor Reyes was a loving wife, incredible mother, and a wonderful grandmother. She was a devoted Christian and a friend to many near and far. She was raised by her Uncle Manuel Martinez and Aunt Antonia Martinez in Houston, Texas during the depression. She finished the 5th grade at Dow Elementary School with her dog Sonny boy by her side. Years later, she married her spouse, John Reyes on June 13, 1937 in Houston, Texas. As the years passed, Eleanor's family continued to grow. She had six children and numerous grandchildren all while supporting her spouse and his business, J.R. & Son's Direct Delivery Service for over 35 years. She had many hobbies and was an excellent multi-tasker. Her home cooking was beyond words. The aroma of her meals would travel down the sidewalk and onto the streets. She was the happiest when she was cooking and serving her family. Her hobbies included making crochet flowers and using them at a witness tool to lead people to the Lord. She was a choir member for many years at Park Temple Baptist Church in Houston, Texas where she loved to sing. If you were hungry she would feed you, if you needed a place to stay she would offer you a room. Her home was never closed. Her heart was bigger than life. Her smiles were always from ear to ear and she never knew a stranger. Her family was number one in her life and in her prayers. You should know she prayed for the missionaries every morning and she called you by name every evening for God to protect you and keep you. Mrs. Reyes was the sweetest woman to have walked this earth and has left her footprint in each of us. Eleanor Reyes lived a long and prosperous life (Proverbs 3:2). We will miss you greatly but have comfort knowing we will see you soon in heaven as promised (I Thessalonians 4:13-18).
