Edwin F. Christman, Jr. died on the 11th of March 2010 in Houston, Texas. He was born on the 26th of February 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri, the only child of Myrtle and Edwin F. Christman. He attended the University of Missouri until he served his country as a member of the United States Signal Corps during World War II. After the war, he continued his education and earned a Master of Social Work degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
Ed was the Executive Director of Family Service Center of Greater Houston including the satellite locations serving families throughout Harris County for 27 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a long time member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and a Rotarian.
Ed was an avid Philatelist and received the Distinguished Philatelic Texan Award in 1978.Ed loved his family dearly and was a true friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audree Christman; his daughters, Vicki Sherman and Lisa Christman; his son in law, David Sherman; and grandson Devin Sherman.
A Memorial Service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 16th of March, at St Paul’s United Methodist Church, 5501 Main Street in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests donations be made to the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society, 2700 Southwest Freeway,
Houston, TX, 77098-4607; St Paul’s United Methodist Church Foundation, 5501 Main Street, Houston, TX, 77004; or to the charity of one’s choice.
