Edward Adam Mock entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 28 after a difficult battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Edward was born July 22, 1934 to Anton Mock and Mary Wagner Mock in Plantersville, TX. He was the 6th of thirteen children. Edward served in the U.S. Army as a young man. After discharge, he met Loretta Marie Kuehn while attending a dance at Bill Mraz dance hall in Houston. Edward and Loretta were married on September 10, 1960 at All Saints Catholic Church in Houston, TX. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in September. Edward worked as a draftsman at Mosher Steel, Trinity Industries, and Hirschfeld Steel. He retired in 1999 at the age of 65. Edward spent his retired years enjoying his family and his beloved dog, Eddie.
Edward and Loretta were blessed with 5 children. Sharon Macon - husband Rodney, Carolyn Thornton – husband Robert, Wayne Mock – wife Sherida, Gerald Mock – wife Staci, and Norman Mock. Edward was so excited to be Papa to 8 grandchildren, Carrie (James) Taylor, Garrett Mock, Lisa (Josh) Baird, Tyler (Elise) Mock, Ellie (Robert) Lanaghan, Winry Ember, Joshua (Hannah) Macon and Lyndsie Mock. Edward’s 6 great-grandchildren filled these last years with great joy and lots of laughter- Davis, Daniel and Noah Baird, Austin, Jackson and Katherine Taylor.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Anton & Mary Mock, brothers - Tony, Gene, James, Joe, Lawrence and infant son, Norman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church-RAC Fund, 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston, TX 77065 in memory of Edward Adam Mock.
A memorial mass will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060.
