Edward Al Krueger, 73, was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 after a twelve and a half year battle with cancer. Ed was the loving husband of Bonnie Morris Krueger and the dedicated father of three daughters, Debra, Rhonda and Kara. He was greeted in heaven by his daughter, Rhonda Lynn Krueger Garrison, who went to be with our Lord in July 2000 and by his parents, Edwin and Edna Krueger.
Visitation will begin at 3 pm, on Sunday, December 12 followed by a Memorial Service at 4 pm at Castle Hills First Baptist Church, 2220 N.W. Military Hwy, San Antonio, Texas 78213. A private interment will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Ed was born in Brenham, Texas on August 7, 1937. He graduated from Brenham High School in 1955 where he was president of the senior class. He then attended Texas A&M where he graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1959. Ed served six months of active duty in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and eight years in the Army Reserve achieving the rank of Captain. Ed was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. (now AT&T) for 36 years where he held many positions in Employee Relations Management and retired as Director – Management Compensation Design & Employee Relations. In 1993, Ed was in charge of relocating the Corporation Headquarters from St. Louis, Missouri to San Antonio, Texas, where he later retired in 1996.
Ed was a loyal Aggie and an avid fan of college football, basketball and baseball. He was a member of Castle Hills First Baptist Church in San Antonio where he served as Deacon Chairman in 2005. Ed loved God and he was dedicated to studying and teaching the Bible. His passion was the study of Bible prophecy and the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Ed’s faith in God gave him the strength and courage to face many trials and difficulties during his long battle with cancer. Ed candidly shared his physical struggles as well as his faith in God’s ability to sustain him through it all. His faithfulness was a powerful testimony that inspired and encouraged everyone who came in contact with him.
Ed is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Morris Krueger of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Debra Tillman and her husband, Mike Tillman of Zachary, Louisiana; daughter Kara Ketcherside and her husband, Marine Major John Christian Ketcherside, and grandson Alexander Christian Ketcherside all of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Linda Krueger of New Caney, Texas and many cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law in Texas and Louisiana.
His family expresses their deep appreciation to Dr. Anthony Tolcher and staff at the START Clinic, as well as to the caring staff of Vitas Hospice and Franklin Park Sonterra.
