Edward Charles Blake was born in “Alamogordo, New Mexico, on November 24, 1950, to Charles Golden and Mary Blake. Edward was the third born of thirteen children.
Edward accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Mary Baptist Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico where Rev. Willie Holly was the pastor.
During his time in New Mexico, he enjoyed attending school, going to the local park to watch relatives play baseball and looking after his younger siblings. His most enjoyable times were dancing, listening to music and playing his drums.
After the family moved to Houston in the summer of 1970, he worked for a moving company for a couple of years. After that, he worked as a Car Concierge for Mister Car Wash on West Crosstimber in Studewood, for 40 years until he retired in 2012. His time there allowed him to meet many celebrities and make many friends, all of whom referred to him as Snake, the nickname he was given by the Mister Car Wash crew.
His was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Teresa; brothers, Herbert and Larry; nieces, Shanta and Bessica; nephews, Billy Ray Jr. and Christopher.
He leaves four sisters; Mildred Bell, Patricia Parks (George), Eleanor Alcorn (Ronnie), and Beverly Justice (Debbie); five brothers, Ulysses Wagner (Chris), Lester Sanders (Donita), Gary Blake, James Stackhouse (Dorlice), and Tommie Blake (Denise); as well as numerous nieces and nephews, loving relatives, and friends to cherish his memory.
A visitation for Edward will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The funeral service will immediately follow from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM,. The committal service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Paradise North Cemetery, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
