Edna Muriel McLeroy died Sunday evening, January 18th, 2015, following a lengthy illness. She was born September 4, 1933, in Runnels County, Texas, to Willis B. and Alice E. Smith. Muriel is survived by her husband of 58 years, W.B. “Mac” McLeroy, Jr., and by daughters Lynn McLeroy Weatherly and Leigh McLeroy.
Her family was her world, including granddaughters Katharine Weatherly Hatcher and husband Jason Hatcher of Houston, and Victoria Weatherly Means and husband Sam Means of Richmond, Texas.
Muriel was employed by the Alief Independent School District for many years, serving as a library aide at Alief Hastings High School. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Houston.
Following a private burial, a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015, in the Hankamer Chapel, Second Baptist Church of Houston. The family requests no flowers; those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or their charity of choice.
