He was raised by his grandparents, Stanley and Cecilia Gorka in Chappel Hill, TX. At the early age of 17, he joined the US Army in November of 1946. He was honorably discharged in 1947 and received the WWII Victory medal. He married Josephine Schulz on May 10, 1951. Soon after, he was drafted into the US Army on June 18, 1951 to serve in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 5, 1953.
Edmund passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and loved ones at the age of 82 on June 27, 2012.
He is preceded in death by his son Randall Craig Gutowski.
He is survived by his wife Josephine of 61 years; his children David Alan Gutowski, Stephen Scott Gutowski and wife Cyndi, Peggy Ann and husband Tommy Smith, and Linda Kay and husband Roddy Williams. Edmund is also survived by his grandchildren Tiffany Gutowski; Ashley, Lauren, and Heather Williams; Michael and Chris Smith; and great-grandchild Jayden Randall Williams.
The family will recieve friends for visitation on Sunday, July 1st at Pat H. Foley & Co. from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A service to celebrate Edmund's life will be held at 10:00am on Monday, July 2nd at the chapel of Pat H. Foley & Co. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm at Waldeck Cemetery in Waldeck, Texas.
