Edelmiro "Miro" Rodriguez, Sr., 77, peacefully passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 in Houston, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, with a 7 p.m. Rosary at Brookside Grand Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 8215 Reservoir St., Houston, Texas 77049. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
He was born in Harlingen, Texas on October 24, 1934. Edelmiro grew up in Kingsville where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Lou Colin in 1954. They moved to Houston in 1963 with their five children and later had two sons. Edelmiro was a successful business owner and operator. In 1977, he founded and operated, with Mary Lou and his children, a demolition company he named Rod & Son's, Inc. In 1995, he opened a chain of Mexican restaurants in College Station and Waco, Texas. He recently completed the construction of a new restaurant on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Edelmiro continued to operate these business ventures with his family until his passing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Manuel Rodriguez; and a daughter, Lisalina Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Houston; daughter, Iddie DeLeon & husband Arturo of Houston; sons: Miro Jr., & wife Maryann, of Houston, Mario of College Station, Gabriel of Waco, Michael & wife Patricia, of Tampa, Fla; grandchildren, Anna Marie, Christina Ann of Houston, Mario Jr., Anthony Tomas of College Station, Ricky Maritnez of Houston, Elyse, Adrienne, Juliana of Houston, Sophia of Waco and Justin, Kyle of Tampa, Fla.; great grandchildren, Isabel, Anabel, and Liliana of Houston; sister, Idolina Saenz of Kingsville; brothers: Javier of Kingsville, Hector of San Antonio, Ademar of Kingsville; along with other loving family & friends.
