Duane Charles Bergmann passed away on the morning of June 4, 2023 at the age of 72 from cancer. He passed at MD Anderson Hospital in the presence of his wife of nearly 46 years. He was born on February 28, 1951 in Houston, Texas, the son of Delfine Fred Bergmann and Sadie Hernriette Nita Georges. He graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1969. Duane married Delores “Dee” Holden Smith on July 15, 1977.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Cynthia Bartek, stepdaughter Tracey Lynn Flores, and stepson Tommy G. Smith, Jr. He is survived by four daughters Rhonda Adams, Dara Richardson, Saturn Ezell, Kimberly Bergmann, stepson Henry Smith, granddaughters Christina Boman and Delores “Dee” Carey, grandson Henry Smith, Jr., numerous great-grandchildren, and other family members.
Duane grew up in Houston, Texas, where he learned his trade as a mechanic from his father. Him and his wife owned and operated D&D LACT Services for many years before they retired. After he retired, he refocused on his love of classic cars and could always be found working on one in his shop. He enjoyed taking the cars he rebuilt and showing them at local car shows. He enjoyed planting vegetable gardens every spring, and working on odd projects around the house near Plantersville, Texas. Though he was not a religious man, he was very spiritual.
A viewing will be held at Brookside Funeral Home Cypress, 9149 Hwy 6 North, Houston, TX, on June 10, 2023, at 1:00pm.
