Alfreda Lynnette Bell Coleman was the first born of two children to Robert Alfred Bell and Della Domoneck Bell in Port Arthur, Texas on August 12, 1971. She moved to Houston, Texas shortly afterwards. Her formal education started at St. James Academy. She then attended St. Anne Academy, Johnston Middle School and finished her high school education at Bellaire High School in Houston Independent School District. Alfreda earned some of Bellaire’s highest academic honors as a high school senior and was rewarded with academic scholarships to different universities. She chose The University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with honors at the top of her class. She earned a B.S. in Chemistry. .
In pursuit of her medical degree, Alfreda attended Baylor College of Medicine where she was awarded a full scholarship. After medical school, Alfreda completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. On completion of residency, she worked as an attending physician at several private clinics before joining Kelsey-Sebold. She served her patients with compassion and faithfulness for eighteen years at Kelsey-Sebold until December of 2020. Alfreda participated in many service organizations throughout her life including Top Ladies of Distinction Inc., Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc., American Heart Association, and American academy of Family Physicians.
Alfreda was a woman of strong faith and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She grew up in the church and as an adult served as a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Alfreda married Eric Coleman at the University of Houston Wedding Chapel on July 19th, 2008, officiated by Pastor Valgene Holmes. To this union one child was born, Eric Coleman Jr. Devyn and Jordyn Coleman completed this family of five.
On Thursday, July 8th, 2021, Alfreda transitioned to her heavenly home with God. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Alfred Bell. She is survived by her mother, Dr. Della Domoneck Bell; her husband, Eric Coleman Sr.; three children, Eric Coleman Jr., Devyn Coleman of Conroe, Texas and Jordyn Coleman of Beaumont, Texas; one brother: Brian Keith Bell (Michelle) of Missouri City, Texas; two nieces: Aliah Ashton Bell and Aryn Elise Bell; aunts: Marie Duhart and Bobbie Jean Luckey (Herman) of Seguin, Texas, Gwendolyn Bell of Houston, Texas, Xavier Hill of Missouri, TX, Kathleen Domoneck and Jettis Domoneck of Beaumont, Texas and Rooselene Franklin of Houston and Elmer Johnson of Houston; uncles: Cyrus Hill, Jr. of Missouri City, Texas, Reverend Gerald Domoneck, Sr. of Beaumont, Texas, Elvins Bell Jr. of Seguin, Texas, John Hardeman of Austin, Texas and Frederick Coleman of Port Arthur, Texas. She is also survived by a host of other family members.
