Dorris McRae Wilson of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on March 3, 2020 at the age of 102. Dorris was born on February 6, 1918 in Warm Springs, Georgia to Lonnie McRae and Claude Reynolds. She had two brothers, Herman and Paul, and one sister, Lucile. Dorris moved to Houston when she was 11 years old. This is where she met her husband of 54 years, Frank K. Wilson. They got married on June 3, 1939, and had one son Frank M. Wilson in 1949.
Dorris attended Jackson Junior High School and Sam Houston High School. After high school she spent most of her early career working in accounting for Gray & Wilmerding, a stock exchange firm. She spent 35 years there, eventually retiring in 1974 to care for her husband. In May of 1997 she decided to get back to work and joined the Medco Medical Supply team where she stayed until just shy of her 99th birthday. She was a loyal employee to the company for 20 years and was a part of their family.
Dorris enjoyed spending time with her husband and son and often spoke about their fishing trips. She also enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving, kind-hearted person who was a hard worker and a loyal friend. She was extremely smart and never wanted to stop learning. Dorris was full of jokes and witty comments that kept everyone laughing. She could make you smile even in the hardest of times. She was the perfect role model and will be deeply missed.
Dorris is survived by her daughter-in-law, Liz Wilson, her five grandchildren, Tiffany Wilson, Chris Wilson and wife Kelly, Brandy McMillan and husband Josh, Cody Wilson and wife Paloma, Carrie Jared and husband Jory, seven great-grandchildren, and her Medco family and boss, John Calhoun. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank K. Wilson, and her son Frank M. Wilson.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 11 AM to 1 PM for those who would like to visit before the service. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:30 PM. Both will be held at Brookside Funeral Home 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
Thank you all for the love you have shown to Dorris throughout the years. She treasured everyone whom she met.
