Dorothy was a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School in Houston and attended the University of Houston. Her career spanned 37 years, spending 11 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone and 26 years with Exxon USA. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Austin. Dorothy most enjoyed playing bridge and entertaining family and friends, especially during the holidays when she would prepare her gourmet dinners.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Capt. William McMillan, Jr. (who was killed in World War II) and Walter Kadi (who also worked with Exxon USA); sisters, Bertha De Vries, Nora Shipley, Lois Engman, Lena Harrison and Margie Kelley.
Dorothy is survived by her son, William McMillan and his wife Kathie of Austin; step-daughter, Kathi Kadi Saenz of Houston; grandson, Scott McMillan and his wife Jocelyn of Kampala, Uganda; granddaughter, Elizabeth Walter of Austin; great-grandchildren, Makiah Walter of Austin and Gabriel and Logan McMillan of Kampala. Also surviving are her sister, Helen Yawn of Houston; brother, William Huebotter Jr. of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Forest Park Lawndale, Main Chapel, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston. The reception for family and friends will be held in the Noe Private Dining Room at the Omni Houston Galleria Hotel, Four Riverway at 1:30pm.
