Dorothy Struve Hobbs

Dorothy Hobbs passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born on October 13, 1922 in LaGrange, Texas to Ottilie and Gus Struve. Dorothy graduated from LaGrange High School in 1941 and received a scholarship to Houston Business College, completing her education there in 1942.

Dorothy's first job was at Thos. Goggan Music Store on Main Street. She worked there until May of 1943 when she married Chester Hobbs. Dorothy was employed by A.O. Smith Corp. from 1949 until 1957. In 1986, she retired from Anheuser Busch Inc. after 20 years of employment.

Dorothy spent the last of her golden years happily at the Tomball Retirement Center. She had a great time playing games and made wonderful friends while there. Dorothy was a devoted member of Spring Cypress Presbyterian Church and enjoyed her church friends visiting her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Lois Crabtree and Charles Struve; and her loving husband, Chester Hobbs. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Tice and husband Gene, Barbara Edwards, Chester Hobbs and wife Linda, Floyd Hobbs and wife Kim and Myrna Hobbs; her ten grandchildren; her eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Brookside Funeral Home Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77068. Funeral service will be at 10am on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home Champions. A private family graveside service and entombment will be held in Brookside Memorial Park.
