Dorothy Irine Cochran, age 76, received her Angel wings on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at home after a lengthy battle with liver disease. She was surrounded by her husband of 60 years, Walter Cochran, her children, and grandchildren just as she would have wanted. Dorothy was born in Geneva County, Alabama to Earnest and Lucy Boyett, she had 8 brothers and sisters. She went on to marry Walter after they grew up together and they had 4 children. They made the move to Texas in 1968. Dorothy was a very hard working lady and worked a full-time position at her job for 27 years until November of 2015. Dorothy is survived by 4 sisters: Frances Coker, Joyce Patterson, Helen Scarborough, Sarah Turberville and brother Earl Boyett. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Houston, Boyett, Buford Hall and Walter Boyett.
Dorothy is survived also by her husband, Walter; sons: Eugene Cochran, Kenneth Cochran and his wife Gwen and James Cochran; daughter Tawanna May. She has seven grandchildren: Eugene Jr. and his wife Jaylene, Chelsea and her husband Jesse, Aimee and her wife Brandi, Frankie and his wife Patty, Kyle and his wife Monica, Roy Jr, and his wife Crystal and Jeremy. She also has 7 great grandchildren: Piper, Landen, Scarlett, JT, Cason, Kinzie and Kason. A beloved daughter-in-law Billie and her baby dog Sassy, and many brother and sister in laws as well as many many friends. Dorothy’s passions were her family, friends, gardening and cooking. Your time around her dinner table was the biggest gift you could give her and her beautiful smile was your gift from her.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, January 6, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Family Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home followed by an interment in Brookside Memorial Park.
