Sam and Erva Crisp. She was preceded in death by her parents
and her only sister, Rose Mary (Crisp) Dillard and only brother,
Richard Williams. The family moved to Columbus where she
attended school and graduated from Columbus Colored High.
Doris met Shelton Dotson Sr. And they were married in April
1945. To that union, two sons were born, Shelton William Dotson
Jr. and Alvin Samuel Dotson Sr. Later in life, Doris relocated to
Houston, Texas, where she met and married George Robinson
in December 1955. To this union, was born Carolyn Ann
(Robinson) Miller and Carmen Ann (Robinson) Shepherd.
Doris worked as a housekeeper at Alamo Plaza and then moved
on to Lockwood hospital as a supervisor until retirement. Doris
joined Second Cavalcade Missionary Baptist Church. After her
eldest son was called into the ministry, she joined Lone Star
Missionary Baptist Church where she was recognized as one of
the mothers of the church.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her 4 children, Shelton
Dotson Jr. (Thelma Jean), Alvin Dotson Sr. (Marilyn), Carolyn
Ann Miller, and Carmen Ann Shepherd (Donald Ray). Doris
has 11 grandchildren: Shelton III (Wanda), Arlo, Jade (Trey),
Phillip, Alvinette, Alvin II, Georgette (Chris), Shawnte (Eugene),
Sharee, Elijah (Alyssa), and Shadae. She also leaves behind 22
great grandchildren: Shelby, Shelton IV, Anyssa, A’la, Amaya,
Sheltonise, Miracle (Adrian), Carrington, Peyton, Riley, Jesse,
Donovan, Kristin, Sam, Sir Cannon, Lashona, Ja’Nirea, Ausencio,
Juan, Eloheem, Cayden, and Elaya; 4 great-great-grandchildren:
Ethan, Taylor, Journey, and Jarun. Honorary children: Charlesetta
Pierson, Giovanni Johnson and Kendrick Sorrell.
