Doris was the first cousin to my mother, Ruby Alene Buck Rabensburg, and a beautiful lady with a flamboyant flare.  Many years of family events such as Christmas or New Years parties were spent together.  I know that Doris left a spirited impression with whomever she met. We will all miss her, but know that she is enjoying her reunion with her beloved husband, Leon.

I was saddened to learn of Doris' passing.  She and my mother, Alene Rabensburg nee Buck, were first cousins born within a few months of each other in 1917.  Both of our families spent our growing up years together since we all lived in Houston in nearby neighborhoods.  My father Aubrey and Doris' husband Leon were close friends and business associates for much of their adult lives.  My mother Alene is still with us living in Houston in the Memory Care Division of the Plaza, which is a part of the Buckingham complex in west Houston.  Doris lived in the same complex as did Alene but in the Independent Living Section.  I recall a wonderful trip in 1999 where our two families including Doris, Alene, my sister Gayle Herring, Gloria and myself made to south central Texas.  The occasion was a Barber Reunion held in Beeville with a re-dedication of grave monuments to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in nearby Refugio.  This was a special occasion for all of us, who were there to honor our common ancestors, who lived and were buried their in the mid-19th Century.  Unfortunately, our two families only hear from or see each other these days when another family member passes. I extend my condolences to Gloria and Don as well as the grandchildren, great grandchildren and perhaps beyond.  Since our mothers have lived to be in their mid-90's,  they have witnessed the following of multiple generations.  My mother Alene is a great-great grandmother five times now.  I plan to be at the funeral to represent the Rabensburg family and any of the Buck family descendants that are unable to attend.
