Doris Lillian DeLoach, age 91, died at Forever Young Senior Living facility in Tomball, TX on Thursday, the 7th of May 2015.The daughter of Paul and Bernice Angeldorf, Doris was born and raised near Alexandria, Minnesota. After completing high school in 1942, she moved to Portland, OR where she met and later married sailor James R. DeLoach, near the end of WWII. Dr. DeLoach currently serves as Senior Associate Pastor at Second Baptist Church, Houston, TX.
Shortly after their marriage, Dr. DeLoach and Doris were called into Christian ministry. As a devoted minister's wife and key supporter, she and Dr. DeLoach served churches in Alabama, South Dakota, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. Doris stood for justice and was an amazing woman of noble character with a servant’s heart who knew how to listen, encourage and help anyone in need. Her favorite role in life was being a devoted wife and the mother of her two sons, Paul and Roland.
Doris is survived by her loving husband and soul-mate, Dr. James R. DeLoach; son, Paul and wife Kate; son, Roland and wife Nancy; four grandchildren, Paula Martin, Angie Schultz, Brad DeLoach, and Brian DeLoach; seven great-grandchildren, Gracie Martin, Elizabeth, Nate, Ben, and Lillian DeLoach, and Parker and Colin Schultz; sisters, Mildred Pearson and Margaret Quinlan; and brother Don Angeldorf.
The Family would like to thank all of the caregivers, staff, and the entire Fiscu family for the loving and respectful care they provided Doris over the past four years. The Family would also like to thank the multitude of friends and the Second Baptist family for their faithful prayers, loving support, and encouragement.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 12th of May, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The memorial service is to be conducted at half-past eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 13th of May, in the in the sanctuary of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston, where Dr. H. Edwin Young, Senior Pastor, is to officiate.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
