Doris grew up in Borger and would go out to the oil wells with her dad to change the charts on the wells when he worked for Gulf Oil Corporation. Doris also worked for her Aunt Nell Hans and Uncle Fred Hanson, DR. at their Western Auto Store where she checked out customers, learned to keep accounting books, and figured the interests and payments on large purchase items such as refrigerator boats, boat motors, and other purchase items. Doris later used that experience in keeping records in her personal life and business life.
Doris graduated High School in Borger, TX in 1959 and went to a junior college in Borger for a year and then to Austin to the University of Texas for another year. When her college fund ran out, she moved to Houston where she worked for a couple of companies. One company she worked for sold oil and gas products for production. She met and married Joe Kidd and they formed a company called KIdd Pipeline in 1972. She designed indicators for pipelines like the Alaskan Pipeline which monitored the flow. She also designed polyethene pig scraper cups to go through pipelines to clean them.
Doris later divorced Joe Kidd and met and married Billy Davis who helped her expand her company and became recognized worldwide in the Oil and Gas industry for her company's products. Doris was proud of the products her company, KIdd Pipelines and Specialties, provided to the Oil and Gas Industry and was proud of the work of her employees, Michelle, Jeff, and Donald who helped the company excel.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Margaret Roberta Smith and John "Speck" Thurman Smith, her husband Billy W. Davis, and brother James Phillip Smith.
Doris is survived by her Nephews Robert Eddie Smith and wife Ann and children Karissa Smith, Jareck Smith; Sean Crawford Smith and James Phillip Smith, Jr. and son Zackery, as well as numerous cousins.

She also participated in the Houston Livestock Rodeo for many years and bought a block of tickets to share with her friends and customers.
Doris loved going to Mom's Country Kitchen to visit with many of her friends that gather to share the news of the day and tell stories about friends who weren't there that day. Doris enjoyed looking at her yard at the plants, flowers, and yards that were so well kept by Barbara and Ray Heavin and son. Doris will be missed by all.
