Dora Castillo

A Lifelong Houstonian, born December 29, 1924, Passed away on November 4, 2014, at the near age of 90. She was born to Manuel and Josephine Garcia, the youngest of their 6 children. On February 16, 1946, she married Rudy Castillo and together raised a family of four in Houston Texas enjoying 56 years of marriage. Mrs. Castillo was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy, Parents, Manuel and Josephine Garcia, Sister, Consuelo Garcia, Brothers, Albert, Manuel, Raymond and Willie Garcia.

She is survived by; Sons, Rudy Don, Kenneth and wife Terri. Daughters; Debra, Laura Ramsey and husband Ed. Eight grandchildren; Mark Diaz, Nicole Castillo Conner, Justin & Daniel Castillo, Ayinde, Basha, Chloe & Dominic Ramsey. Ten Great Grandchildren, Five Great-Great Grandchildren, and many family and friends.

Dora was a long time member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and served as a foster parent for Catholic Charities. She also worked in daycare, shipping clerk for Southern Microfilm and in her proudest role as care giver to her husband, and mother to her children. The family is comforted at her reunion with dad and other family members.

Viewing/Rosary will be held at Pat H. Foley & Co. Friday November 7th from 5 PM – 8 PM with the Rosary beginning at 7 PM. Located at 1200 W. 34th Street, Houston, Texas, 77018 in the Kathryn Foley Memorial Event Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd. Houston, Texas 77092. A private Committal will be held later that same day at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Dora’s name to the charity of your choice.
