Dora Lopez Alanis of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 15th at the age of 89. Dora was born November 10th 1933 in Edcouch, TX, where she was raised by her widowed father, Pablo Lopez, who instilled in her the values of family, hard work and the Catholic faith.
She was a devoted wife and mother, dedicating her life to raising two daughters and running the household where she was the CEO and CFO of our happy home but the most revered title was Mom. Once she was confident her girls were growing into strong and independent women, she was ready to join the workforce in what she enjoyed most,customer service.
She did her best work greeting people and striking up small talk with anyone and everybody. No one could miss that smile and bubbly personality. She never met a stranger.
She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Alphonsus for 56 years. She was a proud grandmother who was actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren. She attended their school events and celebrated their accomplishments and milestones. She also enjoyed family social events and gatherings.
She is preceded in death by her father, Pablo Lopez, mother, Susana Lopez, brothers, Feliberto Lopez, Daniel Lopez (Maria † ), Roberto Lopez, and sister, Maria Minerva Lopez.
She is survived by her husband, Cruz Alanis, daughters, Helen Olivares and Lisa Alanis (Jesse Trevino), sisters Magdalena Casteneda (Rodolfo † ) and Mary Lopez, brother, Domingo Lopez, Jr. (Minerva), sister-in-laws, Ester Lopez, Mary Ellen Lopez, granddaughters, Alyssa Olivares, Leila Bustos and Leilani Olivares and various nephews and nieces.
