Donna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 38 years, Sam Romeo. Four children: Deenna Kaye Davis-Goins, Deborah Krissa Ripkowski (James), Patricia Juliet Breitkreuz (Arthur “Arte”), and Christopher David Romeo (Marissa).
Beloved Nana to nine grandchildren: Sammy, Tony Jr., Cody, Dalton, Tabatha, Clara, Aaron, Mia, and Maverick and seven great-grandchildren: Noah, Ember, Jaiden, Kyle Jr., Jackson, Layla, and Addy.
Her parents, Hobby and Sarah Thompson and sister, DeeAnn Shanklin, predeceased her.
Donna was born in Dallas, TX and moved to Houston, TX in 1969 where she began working at the Harris County District Attorney’s office. She left the DA’s office in 82 to work side-by-side with her husband at his business Sam’s Motorcycle Sales where they both retired together. She was an active member in many organizations as well as a life member of the Daughters of the Nile (Tabeel Temple No. 88) and served as Queen in 1999-2000. This is when she began her extensive collection
of all things gingerbread (the theme of her year as Queen). For many years she was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She loved to volunteer her time at the Shriners Hospital and Shrine Circus.
There was not a craft that Donna did not attempt; from applique to beading, ceramics to doll making, embroidery to flower arrangements, jewelry making to knitting, needlepoint to origami, painting to quilting, and stained glass making to tie-dye making. There wasn’t a craft she did dabble in. She was equally committed in her “professional” life as well. In 1990, she received her Diploma in Clownology and assumed the name “Jazzy Belle”. She became a certified medical assistant in 2011 and opened her own landscaping/irrigation company in 2008. Above all, she was at her happiest when she assumed the name "Demetria" and was out on that dance floor belly dancing and making costumes for either herself or someone else.
Visitation will begin at 3 pm on Friday, August 21, 2020, at Heights Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Service at 4 pm and then a short Memorial tribute presented by the line officers of Tabeel Temple No. 88, Daughters of the Nile.
