Donna Cheryl “PJ” Pennie Jones, 52 years of age passed on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at 2:27 a.m. Donna was born on July 27, 1967, in Agana Heights, Guam to the late Mr. Joe Willie Pennie and Mrs. Hazel Hood Pennie. Donna was educated in the Oakland, California school system where she received her high school diploma. Donna attended college at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Donna was initiated into the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Nu Alpha Chapter (Undergraduate) at Texas Southern University on November 17, 1988. She also joined the Gamma Omega Zeta Chapter (Graduate Chapter) of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Donna later obtained her Master of Education degree at the University of Houston in Victoria.
Donna professed her life to Christ at an early age. She loved working in the church and cherished praising the Lord. Over the years, Donna has served on several committees and always enjoyed helping others. Donna married Craig Jones in on May 28, 2011. She was a member of the Fort Bend Church in Sugarland, Texas at the time of her death. Donna was also a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant. She was a member of the “The Sunshine Unit” where she was very passionate about serving others for many years. Donna also served as a Girl Scout Troop leader for many years, Troop #19607. In addition, Donna was a school Counselor where she loved to collaborate with the community, teachers, students and their families to promote student success.
Donna was a loving and caring person. She loved spending time with family, working in her sorority, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. Donna was a devoted wife, mother and friend, who always thought of others first. “To know her, is to love her.”
Donna leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband Craig Jones, her two sons, Caleb Jones and Justin Adams, her daughter, Brittany Foley; brother (Roderick Hood); aunt and uncle (Charles and Beulah Hood, Corrigan, Texas); Aunts (Eliza Trimer and Joyce Henley, Houston, Texas); Mother-in-law, Pearlie Jones (Memphis, Tennessee) and a host of cousins and friends.
