Donald Eugene Tabor, 60, devoted father, loving grandfather and friend to many, peacefully passed away on June 29. Don was born in Dayton Ohio, and joined the United States Army in 1969. He trained in Fort Dix, New Jersey and served our country in Hue and Phu Bai, Vietnam, as an aircraft engine mechanic and also served in Stuttgart, Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1972. As a civilian, Don worked in procurement and supply for various companies. In 1988, he began his tenure at Harris County Toll Road Authority as a toll collector. He was soon promoted to Procurement Officer and maintained that position until his retirement in 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Johnnie Tabor. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and David Seidlitz, grandson Thomas Sims, brother and sister-in-law Jack and Bev Tabor, niece Julia Tabor, and dear family friends Anita and Jim Stevens, Eric Bostwick and Erin and Chris Bostick. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, July 2nd at 7 pm at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, 77068. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory may be made to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston TX 77030.
