Eugene enlisted in the US Army in 1948 and served in the Korean War. He was awarded a Purple Heart with OLC for war wounds received as a result of action with enemy forces in 1950 and again in 1951. After several transfers to various locations, Eugene was stationed back in Korea where he met his wife, Chong which began a marriage that lasted 37 years. In 1970 he was honorably discharged from the Army after 20 years of service. As a civilian he began a new career in hospital administration which brought Eugene and his family to Houston where he retired as the Director of Building Services from M.D. Anderson Hospital in 1993. Eugene enjoyed fishing and visiting with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Donna and Troy Sockwell of Pearland, TX; his son and daughter-in-law Robert and Susan Logsdon of Houston, TX; his grandchildren Jeremy and Brittany Sockwell, and Katherine and Christopher Logsdon; his sister and brother-in-law Sue and Eddie Sipes; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Chong; his parents Sylva and Minnie Logsdon; his sister and brother -in-law Rita and George Simon, his brother and sister-in-law Uriel and Betty Logsdon and his brother Richard Logsdon.
