Donald Ross Johnson, 51, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014 after a heroic battle to live. He was born on December 5, 1963, in Flint, Michigan, to Delmar and Gloria Johnson. Donald was beloved by his family as the most loving husband and father. He was a man of great kindness, strength, and courage.
Waiting to celebrate with him in heaven are his parents, and brother, Lawrence Johnson.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Donna Johnson, his eager partner in his wonderful adventures great and small; his devoted children, Erik and Logan Johnson, who will always be his pride and joy; siblings, Kenneth (Brenda) Johnson of Durham NH, Bruce (Christine) Johnson of Livonia, Michigan, Sandra (David) Hart of Gaylord, Michigan and Carol (Gino) Bazzani of Gaylord, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Jayne (Phil) Malinowski of Cape Coral, FL; ten nieces and nephews; and loyal friends who showered him with tender affection.
Donald’s legacy is to his family is love. He was passionate about life. He learned to fly and had a private pilot’s license. He worked tirelessly to bring public awareness and a cure to Histiocytosis, from which his son, Logan, is a survivor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Histiocytosis research conducted by Dr. Kenneth McClain at Texas Children’s Hospital. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. We will celebrate the much too short life of this talented man at a Funeral Service which will take place at Westland Baptist Church, Katy, Texas, on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. Internment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Reception immediately following at Westland Baptist Church.
Thank you, Don. Your family will always be so grateful for you and your life. We rejoice that you are now more alive than you have ever been! We joyously wait until the time when we will see you again and then adventure with you will never end.
