Don Howard Smith

Don was a dedicated Christian, a devoted husband, a loving dad, a doting granddad and a proud great-granddad. He was a faithful member of the Lord’s Church at Hidden Valley Church of Christ from 1962 until his passing. Don proudly served his country in the US Army and Army Reserves from 1957 until 1963. He was a skilled craftsman and artist and had a long and successful career as a carpenter and builder. Don loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hours with family and friends at his favorite fishing spots and hunting lease. He was also a history buff and loved spending much time reading.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, C.B. and Nancy Smith.

Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene Smith; children, Richard and Reshae; sister, Jo Ann DeLoach; grandchildren, Kayla and Ty; and his great-grandson, Kadin.

The Visitation will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 6pm to 8pm at Brookside Funeral Home – Champions. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 18, 2017 at 1pm at Brookside Funeral Home – Champions. The Committal Service will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
