Don Edward Bolin, 65, of Houston, Texas passed away on January 2nd, 2017. He was born on December 25, 1951 to E. Edward Bolin and Wilma Kathryn (Culpepper). He was married to Jeanne (Dobkins), his wife and partner for 44 years. Don graduated from Howard Payne University with a Bachelor of Music in Sacred Voice and pursued graduate work at University of North Texas. He served faithfully in ministry for 42 years in churches throughout New Mexico (First Baptist, Eunice), Oklahoma (Gracemont Baptist, Tulsa), Indiana (Pleasant Heights Baptist, Indianapolis), Illinois (First Baptist, West Frankfort; Murdale Baptist Church, Carbondale), and Texas (Lakeside Baptist, Canton).
Don was a man of conviction, true character and the highest integrity. He spent his life investing in the eternal. A lover of Jesus Christ, his wife, his 8 children, their spouses, his 15 grandchildren, the church, and the Gospel ministry of which he gave his life preaching and singing. He was loved, respected, and treasured by so many. His sense of humor was contagious and those who came in contact with him left feeling like they were the most important person in the world.
He was a man who gave his all and left everything on the field and went out a winner. We are grateful for the greatest Dad that's ever been and how he left a legacy that will never die. If he could talk to all of us today, he would say, "happy day", "praise the Lord, what an opportunity", "don't cry for me", "see you in 5 minutes", "happy trails to you until we meet again", and "I'll see you around the throne."
Don is survived by his wife, Jeanne. He is also survived by 7 of his children and their families: Joseph, his wife Kelli, and their children Susanna, William, Elisabeth, and Mary Caroline; Benjamin, his wife Julie, and their children Don Edward and Benjamin; Joy, her husband Joshua, and their children Timothy, Josiah, and Lewis; John, his wife Paige, and their children Grace, Hudson, and John Luke, David and his wife Dora; Daniel, his wife Caysi, and their children Amos and Obadiah; Faith and her husband Ryan; His sisters Sharon Russell and her husband Charles; Mary Susan Gibson and her husband Harry; and 13 nieces and nephews.
