Dewey was born to Rousseau Martin and Annette J. Blanchard April 10, 1930, in Biloxi, Mississippi. He married Madeline Leonhardt in 1952, and they lived together in Jacinto City, Texas. Together they raised two children.
He is survived by Marvin and Cathy Martin, Tina and Glen Cook, and granddaughters, Melissa, Chelsea, and Ashley. He also leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Barbara Mateyack. He was preceded in death by Madeline Martin, (wife), and Danny Ray, Patrick, Ernest, Willman, Natalie, (siblings).
Dewey enjoyed gardening and feeding the deer. He was also actively involved in VFW where he served as Commander and his church Believer’s Fellowship, Magnolia Campus.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 5-8 PM at Believer’s Fellowship Baptist Church, Magnolia Campus. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Believer’s Fellowship Baptist Church, Magnolia Campus. A lunch will be provided at the church followed by burial at the Houston National Cemetery. Pastor Joe Arms will officiate the ceremony. The family would like to thank Pastor Tim Strickland for offering comfort and support.
