Deborah Jean Geye, 67, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021, in South Houston. Affectionately known to family and friends as Debbie, Deb, Dodie, Dod, and GranDodie, she was born in Hico, Texas on November 18, 1953, to parents Nolan and Frances Geye. Debbie was a 1972 graduate of Granbury High School. She had a 42-year career in property tax appraisal with the City of Houston and Harris County. Additionally, she worked part-time with FedEx for 14 years.
Debbie was a passionate sports fan. Growing up in north Texas, she loved the Dallas Cowboys and came to love the Astros and Rockets after moving to Houston. Debbie loved music and the soundtrack to her life was filled with a plentiful supply of country and gospel songs. Debbie was a member of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena where she enjoyed volunteering in her retirement years. She loved to travel and was up for trips great and small. Retirement gave Debbie the time to enjoy life more fully and she thoroughly enjoyed trips to Disneyland, the Great Smoky Mountains, and several Caribbean cruises.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Louis Butera, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Pat Butera, her nephew, Michael Butera, niece-in-law, Janice Butera, great-niece, Gia Butera, and many loving friends and family members.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 14, beginning at 5 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale. The funeral will be on Thursday, July 15, at 10 a.m. at South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena. The graveside service will be on Friday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at East End Memorial Cemetery in Stephenville, Texas.
