DAVID MOVED TO HOUSTON TX IN 1948, AND STARTED LIVING WITH HIS SISTER RUTH AND HER HUSBAND ELMER. THEY WERE MEMBERS OF TRINITY LUTHERAN DOWNTOWN AT THE TIME, AND HE STARTED ATTENDING TRINITY WITH THEM. HE SOON JOINED THE WALTHER LEAGUE YOUTH GROUP AT CHURCH, WHERE HE MET HIS WIFE BETTY H. WEINHOLD. THEY WERE MARRIED ON MAY 17TH, 1952, AND IT LASTED JUST 4 DAYS SHORT OF 64 YEARS. THEY HAD ONE SON, DAVID B. WEINHOLD. OVER THE 60 PLUS YEARS HE WAS A MEMBER OF TRINITY, HE SANG IN THE CHOIR, SERVED AS AN ELDER, WAS A MEMBER OF THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE, SERVED ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AND WAS ALSO PRESIDENT OF THE CONGREGATION AT ONE TIME. HE ALSO SERVED ON COUNTLESS OTHER COMMITTEES FOR THE CHURCH AND SCHOOL. HE ALSO PARTICIPATED REGULARLY IN AN IN HOME BIBLE STUDY GROUP WITH HIS WIFE BETTY AND MANY OF THEIR CLOSE FRIENDS.

NOT LONG AFTER LEAVING THE NAVY, HE WENT TO WORK FOR AMERICAN GENERAL CORP, WHICH IS NOW AIG. HE SPENT 36 YEARS WITH THEM, WORKING HIS WAY UP TO BECOMING THE VICE PRESIDENT OF DATA PROCESSING, UNTIL HE RETIRED IN FEBRUARY OF 1992.
HE WAS A VERY LOVING, CARING, ACTIVE, AND INVOLVED FATHER AND GRANDFATHER. THROUGHOUT ALL HIS YEARS, HE ATTENDED COUNTLESS SPORTING EVENTS FOR HIS SON DAVID, AND THEN HIS 3 GRANDSONS, CHARLES, TAYLOR, AND BRANDON. HE WAS RARELY UNABLE TO ATTEND THE GAMES, AND WOULD CONSTANTLY TELL STORIES OF HIS FAVORITE MEMORIES OF THOSE GAMES. HE WAS A WELL-VERSED WORLD WAR II HISTORIAN, AND COULD ALWAYS BE FOUND READING BOOKS ON THE HISTORY OF WORLD WAR II. HE ALSO ENJOYED SIPPING SCOTCH OUT ON THE BACK PATIO IN THE EVENINGS WITH FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS. HE DEVOTED SO MUCH OF HIS TIME HELPING OTHERS, AND HE SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS VISITING SHUT IN MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH, OR ANYONE ELSE WHO JUST NEEDED SOMEONE TO TALK TO. HIS DAILY PRAYER LIST INCLUDED MORE PEOPLE THAN ONE COULD IMAGINE, FROM DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILY, TO OTHERS HE HAD BARELY KNOWN, BUT HE KNEW COULD USE HIS PRAYERS. HE ALWAYS TOOK CARE OF OTHERS BEFORE HIMSELF.
