David Earl Roberts peacefully passed away on the morning of Thursday, January 8, 2015, in his home in West Houston. He was born February 26, 1959 in Houston to Lee Samuel Roberts and Edith Ross Roberts, being the youngest of two other children, Thomas Roberts and Pam Steen. He attended Memorial High School and Robert E. Lee High School and studied at the University of Houston. Soon after, he began to follow in his father's footsteps in the world of real estate by selling rental houses and doing construction build out jobs which led David to start up his own company, Roberts Construction, in 1984. Later on, he was inspired to expand his company to include real estate development in the West and North parts of Houston, renaming his company Roberts Development/Construction Inc.
David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling the world, driving his Ferrari, and hunting at his ranch. David is survived by his wife, Janis; his son, Blake; his sister, Pam Steen and her husband John Steen, and their son Gates Steen and his wife, Virginia; and his brother, Thomas Roberts and his wife, Jennifer and their son Jason and his wife, Erin and their two children.
He is preceded in death by his father Lee S. Roberts and mother, Edith R. Roberts. We will all have a large place in our heart for Big Earl. Our hearts are broken.
The funeral services are to be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, in the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road. The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, also in the chapel.The interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
