David Mayfield Sr., 51, was born on October 26, 1972, in Houston,TX to parents' Otis Mayfield (82) and Renee Pitre (74). He went to M.B. Smiley High School and later went on to work as a journeyman electrician for over two decades. David later changed careers to become a truck driver for the Houston Port Authority, October of 2021. David's work ethic was unmatched. As he took the most pride in being a provider for his family.
David had a passion for restoring classic cars. Which was evident by the countless hours of conversations and research he spent in making every detail perfect.
David had a charisma that was infectious. To know him was to love and respect him. He had such a giving heart and did so much for so many in private.
During disasters he ensured that the elderly had gas and water. He would spend his days making sure everyone was safe and accounted for. This is just one example of his generosity.
In 1988, he met Reshay Antoinette Davis. They later married on July 15, 2000 at New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Collectively they had four children, Diamond Reshay Davis-Utley (32), Kreiona Desha Mayfield (31), Courtney Jade Mayfield (27) and David Mayfield Jr. (26). He also leaves a grandchild behind, Khloe' Nicole Hardy (9). He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always put his family at the forefront. Cherishing every moment spent with them.
David will be was known for his honesty, wisdom and compassion. He was admired by a host of family, friends, and colleagues. He will be deeply missed.
A visitation for David will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at New Pleasant Grove, 3221 Bain St, Houston, TX 77026, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
