David A. Mata

David Amaya Mata, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 09, 2022 in Houston, Texas. David was born February 08, 1939 in Lane City, Wharton, TX to Margarito Mata Sr. and Maria De Refugio Amaya Mata. He married his friend and love Marcela Banda in 1962.

He was preceded in death by his parents Margarito Mata Sr., Maria De Refugio Amaya Mata, and his brothers Thomas Mata, Manuel Mata and Juan Mata. His sister Alice Balles and Grandson Abel Anthony Mata.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Marcela Banda Mata. Son; Abel Mata and his wife Consuelo Garcia. Daughter; Diane Mata Torres. Granddaughters; Natalie Torres and Gabriella Mata. Great Grandchildren Madelyn Sotelo and Gadiel Lopez.

His most desired hobby was working on old classic cars, which also holds our fondest memories. He enjoyed traveling with family to various destinations, which he captured through numerous photos and videos. David had an act for dressing very nicely wherever he went with his staple of custom hats.

The family would like to express their thanks to all in attendance, who came to lay David to rest.

A visitation for David will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo - Broadway, 4136 Broadway St., Houston, Texas 77087. A rosary will occur Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 4136 Broadway St., Houston, Texas 77087. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1618 Texas Ave,, Houston, Texas 77003. A committal service will occur Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023.
