David Gene Irwin

He was veteran of the US Armed Forces 1953 1955. David married Elsie Jane Harryman of Houston on January 7, 1955. He worked for Texaco 1952-53; 1955-1988. He graduated from University of Houston in 1961 with a Bachelor of Administration degree.

David served as a Deacon at Woodhaven Baptist Church and was a member of Houston First Baptist Church. As a youth, David played in a church sports league in basketball and baseball. He was a coach for the neighborhood Spring Branch Little League Baseball team. David enjoyed attending Football, Basketball, and Baseball games at U of H. He also was an avid Con Collector.

David had seven brothers and sisters who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Elsie of 68 years. Their daughter Susan Jean Irwin Linberry 1961-2004 married Steven Patrick Linberry (Rusty) of Austin, TX. They had two children: Steven Patrick Linberry, Jr. and wife Katie Ward of St. Louis, MO/ They have a daughter Elnora Louise Lineberry (Ella). Julie Elizabeth Linberry Luft and husband Alex of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by his sister Linda Colburn Rumfolo and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for David will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Houston First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77024.
